Bay Public Research Map
UC Berkeley · UCSF · Berkeley Lab

One front door to the Bay Area's public research base.

Together these three institutions form one of the strongest concentrations of public research in the country. Bay Public Research Map is a neutral, public-benefit effort that makes this base easier to see, support, and mobilize.

The opportunity

To an outside funder, company, or agency, three world-class institutions can read as three separate front doors. The excellence is not the problem. Coordination, visibility, and routing are. Every time the three collaborate at scale, someone from outside had to assemble it. We do that on purpose, as a neutral layer that sits outside all three.

What we do

Map

A clear picture of the centers, capabilities, and partnership pathways across the three institutions.

Surface

Cross-institutional opportunities that are hard to see from outside any single campus.

Route

A direct answer to "I want to work with Bay Area public research. Where do I start?"

Focus areas

01

Computing, data, and AI infrastructure

Berkeley's methods, the Lab's national compute and networking, and UCSF's clinical data already depend on a shared fabric. We help coordinate it.

02

Biomedical and health AI

A deep base of joint work in genomics, precision health, and neuroscience, with room to connect the Lab's compute and genomics as a third leg.

03

Climate and health

Where the region's climate and energy strength meets frontline questions about extreme heat, air quality, and healthy communities.
